SoftBums AI2 System

These are so cool! And let me just say, Sarah, the work-at-home mom behind SoftBums has EXCEPTIONAL customer service!

The design is one of the coolest I've seen. It's a one-size diaper, but instead of annoying snaps that you have to snap down (and then they look ugly when they're unsnapped), there is this cool toggle system in the legs that you can adjust to fit small and bigger rises! I am so impressed with the design!!!

They have snap-in snake soakers. You can get microfiber with fleece on top, or bamboo velour. I've tried both, and they each have their strong points. The microfiber is a bit trimmer, and the bamboo is more absorbent.

What's really cool is that you can just trade out the wet soakers and use the shell over again as long as it doesn't get soiled. This is a cheaper way to go than buying a bunch of AIOs or AI2s.

I'm really impressed with these diapers, so I thought I'd share! :)

My New Best Friend!

A diaper sprayer!!!!!

Great googly mooglies, why didn't anyone tell me before how awesome they are? I had been struggling along, wiping poopies off with toilet paper or dunking in the toilet. And there would still be... you know, streakies and smearies left after that. But I kind of thought a diaper sprayer was a waste of money...

I bought one in a co-op a while back, and it finally came to my mailbox. It sat on the kitchen counter for a few days, with both my husband and myself asking, "Shouldn't we just continue with the toilet paper? It's not that big of a deal...."

Well, enter Saturday afternoon, and my hubby got bored and installed the sprayer (only took a couple minutes!) Then we both anxiously waited for our little guy to poop, cheering, "Poop! Poop! Poop!" so we could give it a whirl. And finally the poop came, and we both excitedly ran the diaper to the bathroom. And........

MIRACLE OF MIRACLES!!!!! The sprayer is AWESOME!!!! The poop- even the smearies and streakies- came right off into the toilet. No toilet paper, no dunking... Just spray and go!

If you don't have one and think you don't need one... GET ONE!!!!!!! :D

OUCH!!!

We're experiencing the "Ouch Factor" with some of our diapers/covers! Suddenly serged diapers are irritating my little guy's thighs when they never were before! But the fleece is the real culprit... I have these ADORABLE fleece covers I had made, but the serging inside the legs and the waist ATE his skin! He has these awful red scabby places on his belly and his leg chubs. *cry*

I guess as babies get more mobile, the friction from some of the rougher materials can cause irritation- both for the baby's skin AND for the mommy's emotions!

STASH NIRVANA!!!

When you have finally gotten EVERY diaper you felt you had to have... When there are things you COULD still have, but not that you NEED to have.... You call it "stash nirvana". And I'm THERE!

I have a few more things coming in the mail to complete my nirvana, and then I'll share what got me there- it was a long road. But for now, I can breathe a huge breath, and let it out, "Ooooooooooaaaaaammmmmmmm......"

Is anyone....

Out there? Because I kinda gave up my blogging because I didn't want people using my blog for "help me fall asleep" nighttime reading.... LOL!

Nah, really I just don't know what to write about that's of interest! :D

Variety is the Spice of Diaper Happiness

I've been reading a lot lately from people who say they have gotten bored of their diapers and re-vamped their stash multiple times. This sounds somehow familiar to me... ;)

Lately, though, I haven't had that. I think it's because I've kept such a variety in my stash. Before I had all pockets, and then all AIOs... Now I have a few different types and different brands, and that seems to keep the boredom at bay.

I have my BG Organic (snapping) AIO diapers that I mostly use for going out of the house. But sometimes, I just feel lazy, and I throw one of those on him at home during the day. And I am struggling through prefolds at the moment, and I like that old-fashioned factor they provide. And then there are my fitteds- I have a variety of those that snap or use pins, and then wool, PUL, and fleece covers. I like staring at my stash for a second and deciding what I feel like using.

Keeping a variety seems to be the way not to get burned out on cloth-diapering. When you still have choices and can use whatever you're in the mood for at the time, it adds a little spice to the diapering pot- and who doesn't like a little spice? :)

FINALLY Trying Prefolds!

I've discovered that I really love prefolds as doublers for overnight! I use a tri-folded preemie size in my Very Baby Simply Nights or my Sustainablebabyish bamboo, and it works GREAT as a top layer next to the skin!

So I've finally ordered some prefolds to see if I can use them with pins- like my mom used to do with me! I've owned prefolds before, but didn't use them before he outgrew them. So I'll finally be able to say I've tried it all! ;)
